America how I love thee
How blessed all are we
From oppressed beginnings
To a nation that is free
We started with a party
Got rid of some pricey tea
Boston really rocked it
Right into the sea
Our grievance did we send
And was conveniently ignored
A Declaration did we make
And enforced it with the sword
Much blood has been spilled
To secure this chosen land
Much sorrow and much pain
Our freedom did demand
Our people are so good
And very kind at heart
We truly sue for peace
And surely do our part
But if war and contention
Are what others do desire
Don’t misjudge our kindness
You’ll dance amongst hell’s fire
Happy Birthday America, #242!
